Kara Keating | In Michigan, voters will elect a new governor, attorney general and secretary of state, as well as members of the boards of Michigan State University, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University. Michigan Voters also will decide whether to legalize marijuana for recreational use and whether to create an independent commission to draw voting districts.
Guns have been a hot topic of discussions in several recent election cycles. As the 2018 election winds down, here’s a rundown of what some candidates in the hotly contested governor and 8th congressional district races have been saying about gun rights and gun control in Michigan.
Helen Korneffel | Ingham County voters will elect a new county commission in today’s election. At least four of the 14 seats on the ballot in districts across the county will see new commissioners, as no incumbents are seeing re-election in those districts. Those four districts include parts of Lansing, Delhi Township and Meridian Township. District 3, southwest Lansing

Luke Saccone | Hundreds of people will be at work Tuesday across Delta Township and Eaton County to run the election. Their work includes issuing ballots to registered voters, monitoring the voting equipment, explaining how to mark the ballot or use the voting equipment and counting votes.
Ingham County voters will decide in the Nov. 6 election whether to increase a fee on phone bills from 42 cents per month to $1.80 to pay for 911 services.
On November 6th, Michigan citizens voted to adopt Proposal 3, a statewide initiative which will overhaul Michigan’s current election law. Also known as ‘Promote the Vote,’ Proposal 3 is a comprehensive measure which will allow people to automatically register to vote when conducting business at the Secretary of State’s office unless they decline to register. Proposal 3 proponents say it will make voting easier for every Michigan citizen, including those who think about voting in the last minute. “Proposal 3 assures voting rights for Michigan citizens more than they have right now,” said Mary Pollock, government relations coordinator for the Michigan chapter of AAUW.
