Catherine McEvoy

Catherine McEvoy is a Journalism major focusing on sports broadcasting. Sports she enjoys following are golf and basketball. Golf has been in her life since she was young and currently she plays on the Michigan State Women's golf team. She hopes to become a reporter for the Golf Channel one day.

Volunteers help care for animals at humane society

The Capital Area Humane Society, located in Watertown Township just west of Lansing, has more than 2,400 active volunteers at its shelter and about 45 employees. Each year the shelter cares for about 4,000 animals.

Cold weather brings end to season at Groesbeck Golf Course

With the season changing and temperatures dropping, employees shut down operations for the season at Lansing’s last remaining publicly owned golf course. The city once operated four courses, but closed the other three more than a decade ago.

  • Soaring gas prices prime East Lansing for commuting alternatives

    In recent weeks, Americans have felt the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and other dynamics at the fuel pump. According to AAA gas price data, Lansing residents can expect to pay an average of $3.81 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel, down from last month’s average of $4.14 but far above last year’s average of $2.82.  THE PROBLEM WITH GAS A lack of commute options forces many into costly alternatives.
