Spartan Basketball Back In Action

Thousands of Spartan Fans from across the country got a chance to interact with players and coaches at the annual Midnight Madness event at the Breslin Center on Oct. 18. Coaches Suzy Merchant and Tom Izzo certainly exceeded expectations with their lavish entrances, wowing the crowd, some of who traveled more than nine hours to attend the pre-season event. “It’s always a good feeling to be able to sign some autographs for our fans, man. They pay they hard earned money to come see us play, so this is our opportunity to give it back to them a little bit,” Senior Point Guard Keith Appling said.

Midnight Madness Kicks off Basketball Season

We might be in the midst of football season, but for one night at least, it was all about Spartan basketball. And fans, students and alumni poured into the Breslin to see what surprises were in store for this year’s Midnight Madness

From the band, to the cheerleaders, and of course, there was Sparty. There was no denying the energy and excitement building up to the team and Coach Tom Izzo’s big entrance. And boy, what an entrance it was. “Oh it was awesome,” said Mackenzie Sims, an MSU junior.
