Ohio State defeats Michigan State, claims top spot in division

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 13 Ohio State moved the ball with ease against the twelfth-ranked Spartans en route to a 48-3 victory at the Horseshoe. The Buckeyes now sit alone in the Big Ten East with a conference record of 6-1 and control its own destiny, wins against Illinois and Michigan secures a spot in the Big Ten Championship game for the Buckeyes. It is the most lopsided loss in head coach Mark Dantonio’s 11 seasons, passing the Spartans’ 49-7 loss to Alabama in the 2011 Capital One Bowl. “Something happened to us today too, turnovers, not being able to run the ball, not being able to stop the run,” Dantonio said. 

MSU quarterback Brian Lewerke completed 18 passes out of 36 attempts for 131 yards and two interceptions.

A new bill proposed may give unpaid interns in Michigan the same protections as other paid employees. MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon gave her annual State of the University address, giving some students reason to speak out against the administration. And, a suspect has been arrested in connection to the death of MSU student Dominique Nolff. Cedar Village Destruction

 

EAST LANSING – Thousands of MSU Students took to the streets early Sunday morning, December 8 to celebrate Michigan State’s win over Ohio State in the 2013 B1G Championship Game. Fires were set to couches all over East Lansing, with a rowdy celebration ensuing in Cedar Village, just East of MSU’s campus. Students burned whatever they could find, including trees, the shirts off their backs, couches, and matresses. They even uprooted multiple trees and bushes to burn. Police were on the perimeter of Cedar Village, but did not take action until Michigan State Police and SWAT teams arrived around 2:30 AM. East Lansing Police reported that at least 57 fires were set around the city, and 15 arrests were made.
