Mason City Councilwoman Rita Vogel faced an ethics complaint from two Mason residents, due to comments made when attempting to recognize Malcom X Day in a city council meeting. The complaint was dismissed by the Board of Ethics for the city.
The Abbot, the Hub, and Landmark on Grand River are three notorious luxury-student apartments in downtown East Lansing. Yet, the style of living is not what sparks controversy; it’s the cost.
The City of East Lansing, after taking input from the public, will have its new master plan for parking completed by “mid-April,” according to Sarah Cheesebro, the city’s deputy administrator for parking.
At the April 4 meeting East Lansing City Council members approved three resolutions recognizing different minority groups.

The Bath Charter Township Board of Trustees has come under public scrutiny due to the handling of charges filed against Board Supervisor Marie Howe. During the board meeting on March 20, multiple residents spoke out against what they described as “disrespectful and inappropriate” behavior.
On Feb. 8, the State of Michigan charged Howe with assault and battery. Records from the 65A District Court reveal that the alleged offense occurred Aug. 25, 2022. The reported victim is Deputy Clerk April Dunham.
The company Crown Castle proposed the installation of 5G cell towers in East Lansing residential areas in late December of last year. Since, residents have shown great opposition, fearing for their health and claiming the towers will be an eyesore.
On Jan. 26, the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) had their bi-weekly meeting at the Hannah Community Center.
