SOCIAL MEDIA: Can social media responsibly guide environmental decisions? Residents of the Great Lakes region can hold strong, often polarizing, opinions. A study shows how such views expressed on Twitter can be used to protect the region’s waterways and parks. Study references Detroit River and online discussion of reintroduction of wolves at Isle Royale National Park, where ecology was the most tweeted-about feature, unlike at other national parks where recreation terms were tweeted most. We talk to researchers from MSU and the University of Wisconsin. By Daniel Schoenerr. FOR IRON MOUNTAIN, MARQUETTE, SAULT STE. MARIE, ST. IGNACE, DETROIT, PLANET DETROIT AND ALL POINTS.
