Presidential candidate Marco Rubio makes a stop in Michigan

Grand Rapids, MI – Earlier this week, Republican presidential candidate, Senator Marco Rubio, addressed a crowd of nearly 1,000. He spoke about many topics, but focused some of it on issues important to students. “Three years ago, I had over 100,000 dollars in student loan debt,” Rubio said. The discussion about loans resonated with many of the students in the audience, including high school junior, Devin Humphreys. “Senator Rubio is a person who had student loan debt,” Humphreys said.

Locals rally around their community amidst the Flint water crisis

Flint, MI – With the sudden surge of attention regarding the water crisis, there has been support coming from all directions. Bottled water is being donated from different organizations across the country. But it’s not just bottled water that’s needed. Rick Carter, the Executive Director of Michigan Faith in Action, says that Flint locals are looking for changes to be made. “The people in Flint are really upset and together on pressing government officials to correct this problem,” Carter said.
