Are you voting in the upcoming election? Probably not.

Although city general elections are coming up on Nov. 3, not all Lansing residents are voting. City Clerk Chris Swope said that he expects about 12,000-16,000 voters which is about 15-20 percent of those registered here. He said that unfortunately the turnout will be low, considering there are 80,000 people registered to vote. Swope said, “80,000 people registered to vote in the city of Lansing is probably pretty close to our voting age population, but in an odd year election, we just get a lot less voters show up than in a presidential election.”
