Once again, an attempt is being made to repeal Michigan’s law that requires motorcyclists to wear a helmet. On November 2, 2011, the bill passed in the House by a vote of 69-39; it now makes its way to the Senate. The past few measures were vetoed by former Governor Jennifer Granholm which would make it the first of its kind to make it to the desk of current Governor Rick Snyder. The regulars at South Lansing’s biker bar, Uli’s Haus of Rock, are mixed on their preferences of where and when to wear helmets on their bikes, but all agree that they have the right to choose. Owner Uli Kaczmarek states: “It should be my choice; just like some people choose to drive a convertible without a rooftop.”
