EAST LANSING – In the midst of Michigan State University hiring an entire new coaching staff, Katin Houser has informed multiple sources that he intends to enter the transfer portal. The redshirt-freshman quarterback started seven games for the Spartans this past season, compiling a 2-5 record in that span.

The move comes just two days after MSU announced the hiring of former Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith as the new leader of the Spartans.

A four-star recruit out of high school in the class of 2022, Houser received 14 offers and was originally committed to Boise State University before flipping his commitment to Michigan State.

During the 2023 season, Houser threw for 1,132 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions in 11 games and seven starts for MSU.

Houser still has three years of eligibility available and will be eligible immediately. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound quarterback now looks to find a new home where he can rejuvenate his young career this off-season.

Entering the transfer portal alongside Houser is redshirt-junior linebacker Darius Snow and redshirt-senior lineman Spencer Brown.
