Meridian Township treasurer Julie Brixie is the new State House representative for the 69th District.
Brixie, a Democrat, earned more than 70% of the votes and defeated Republican George Nastas. She replaces Sam Singh (D-East Lansing).
“It is feeling really good to have seen two year’s worth of work come to culmination tonight,” Brixie said at her watch party at Pizza House on Tuesday night. “It has been really incredibly humbling and heartwarming to see the outpouring of support that I have received in this election. I am really excited to be part of a movement that is dominated by women. We are going to be working together to make life better for Michigan’s residents. I feel really honored and privileged to be a part of that.”
