Shipt AppIt’s becoming easier and easier to save time on grocery shopping with services such as curbside pickup and fastlane, but one company is quickly becoming one of the largest delivery services in the country.

According to its website, Shipt launched in the summer of 2014 in the heart of the Magic City, Birmingham, Ala., and was founded on the mission of simplifying lives by servicing members, shoppers, and communities by offering convenience and freedom.

Now, just four short years later Shipt operates in 30 major metros throughout the U.S.–more than any other grocery service. They deliver in as soon as an hour and since memberships travel with their members, they can order anywhere that Shipt is available.

Theresa Loew, a Shipt shopper in the Grand Rapids, Mich., metro area said it’s the most flexible yet rewarding job she could imagine having and a win-win for shoppers and customers.

“I worked full-time up until a few years ago and working for Shipt has allowed me to be at home with my kids when I need to be, but also make money at the same time,” Loew said. “It’s so nice to be able to work whenever I want, as much or as little as I want, and I always feel like the members are so appreciative when I get to their houses with their groceries.”

The company states that an experienced Shipt Shopper can make anywhere from $16 to $22 an hour with the potential to earn tips on top of that. Shoppers can also work as much or as little as they like, and with some stores being open 24 hours a day, they even have the option to work 24/7.

Marcy Spearow, a Grand Rapids area resident gets her groceries delivered several times per month.

“Between going to school, working, and taking care of my kids, not having to spend hours a week at the store has been a blessing,” Spearow said. “I feel like so many days I get up, rush to get my kids to school, spend all day at work, come home, help them with their homework, and then by the time dinner rolls around I realize I didn’t even have time to go get anything, so it’s just amazing being able to hop on my phone and just order whatever I need and want in a matter of minutes. It has made my life so much easier.”

A yearly Shipt membership is $99 per year and a monthly membership is $14 per month and includes a variety of stores depending on the metro. The company recently expanded their store options to include Target, which launched on June 14, 2018.
