On their day off, students from all over campus came together to go into the streets and serve the Lansing community.
Into The Streets is a community service organization on campus that is run by students, this is their 11th year planning the Martin Luther King Day service event.
The students were split up to over 15 agencies in the Lansing and East lansing area. Some students played with kids, some students organized storage rooms, some cleaned kitchens and some took down Christmas decorations.
Chad Badgero, the Old Town volunteer coordinator, says the help was needed.
“This would’ve taken us all day to do by ourselves,” Badgero said.
Into the Streets Co-Chair, Sam Gorton says community service not only helps those who need it, but those who are serving.
“You learn a lot about yourself and a lot about the people you are serving,” says Gorton.
