Several thousand people attended President Donald J. Trump’s campaign event in Lansing on Tuesday, including students from nearby Michigan State University.

MSU student Gillian Martinelli made the 8-mile trip to see the president at the Capital Region International Airport.

“I am thrilled that President Trump came to visit our home state and college,” said Martinelli, a senior from Grosse Pointe Farms majoring in business from Grosse Pointe Farms. “This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance and for him to be here, minutes away from campus.”

Trump arrived to the roar of the crowd and Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” playing over the speaker system.

“I am excited for President Trump to be here in Lansing. It is nice to see support out here,” MSU student Ryan Brown said.
