The men’s varsity basketball team from Grand Ledge High School suffered an abysmal loss to Jackson High School Friday night.

The boys prep basketball season is well underway and for the Grand Ledge Comets the season has been a long road. With a 0-10 division schedule, the team has struggled to beat just about anybody.

After suffering a 25-point defeat on Feb. 7 to Okemos High School, the Comets were looking to bounce back with a win to end the three game road trip.

The next opponent on the schedule was the Jackson Vikings. Jackson, who already beat Grand Ledge earlier in the season 90-61, was coming off a two game skid and was looking to right the ship.

Even with the back-to-back losses, Jackson entered the game with an 8-7 overall record, while posting a 5-5 record in the division up to this point. On the other hand, Grand Ledge entered the game with a 1-13 overall record and posted a 0-10 against division opponents to this point in the season.

For Grand Ledge, Friday night’s game was no different than any other game this season. When the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read 73-47 in favor of the Jackson Vikings.

This loss pushed the Comets losing streak to 13 games.

Your next chance to watch the Grand Ledge Comets varsity boy’s basketball team is Tuesday February 14, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. as they return home to take on the Lansing Eastern Quakers; who are 13-2 on the season.
