Fat Boys Pizza is no stranger to the big rush before the Super Bowl. The restaurant has been serving Holt and its surrounding community for more than 20 years.

Fat Boys assistant manager Shane McVigh described Super Bowl Sunday as a good night for the restaurant. The 27-year-old McVigh has worked at Fat Boys for 10 years.

“It’s one of the busiest nights of the year,” McVigh said. “We always have to up staff,” he added.

Fat Boys, at 2040 N. Aurelius Road, has been in Holt since 1990. One of the unique things about the restaurant is that all the dough and sauce is made in house. The Holt Community News voted Fat Boys Pizza  “Best Pizza” 12 years in a row. Fat Boys also won “Best Italian Restaurant” in 2010.

Fat Boys employees Mike Cary and Phil Johnson recalled past Super Bowl Sundays they spent at Holt’s favorite pizza place.

“It’s always much busier than any other Sunday,” said Cary.

“Everyone that could possibly work has to work,” said Johnson.

McVigh, Cary and Johnson are all football fans. Johnson is rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, while his co-workers Cary and McVigh are hoping to see the Green Bay Packers win it all.
