MSU rethinks Spartan logo change

When Spartan fans stumbled upon the newly revamped MSU logo on the U.S. Office patent website, fans were outraged. This outrage from students and alumni forced coach Tom Izzo to address the issue before the U of M basketball game in January. Several facebook groups and other forms of complaint caused disappointment with the athletic department. The revamped logo is a partner project between MSU athletics and its sponsor Nike. The idea came about over a year ago and the new logo is suppose to be unvailed sometime in April.
However, the back lash from Spartan fans were so thunderous that the university and the athletics department have came out with a new statement retracking their decision in making the change. Athletics Director Mark Hollis released the statement in early February. Spartan fans could not be any happier. This is a testament to the power of the voices of the community when it is cohessive.
Although the athletics department still plans to rebrand all the sports team under a single umbrella by making the colors all the same with a slight shade of difference, all is ok with this change.
