Lansing High School Sports Blog

The big showdown is finally upon us.  No-1 ranked Lansing Sexton takes on No-2 ranked Lansing Eastern in a Capital Area Activities Conference Blue Division showdown.

Lansing Sexton got the best of Lansing Eastern last time these two teams met at Sexton.  The game was played in front of a sold out gym that was without a doubt over max capacity.  If you are headed to Eastern this Friday, my advice, get there early.

Denzel Valentine, who is committed to Michigan State University, leads Sexton, the reigning division 2 state champions.  Behind Valentine is a gang of division 1 athletes headed to Iowa State, Cleveland State and Iowa.

Eastern is no easy task either.  Led by Fredrick Edmund, the Quakers are only a game behind Sexton for the division lead.  Edmund, who often sparks his team with his highflying dunks, also has been shooting the ball better as of late.

Now when I say get there early, I mean no later than an hour before game time.  I got to the last game an hour before and was denied at the door.  I stuck around for a very long time and eventually slid in.  But I have never seen a crowd like that at a high school basketball game.  Even currentMSU basketball players were in attendance.

So if your available Friday night, you should really take advantage of some great basketball being played in your area.

Prediction: UPSET

Sexton: 76

Eastern: 81
