DEWITT — Vacant land is selling fast in DeWitt. The city is known for its farmland and river that goes through the city, but it’s more than that why land is selling so fast. After speaking with Jeri Jo Meyer, Broker/Owner at Inspired Home Real Estate and Staging, she brought up many good points as to why vacant land is hot. “Building is hot right now, it’s gone up from 12 to 14 percent this year” Meyer said. At ReMax in DeWitt, broker/owner Patrick Feldpausch had other viewpoints on why the land is selling so fast.

DEWITT — Christ United Church is one of the first churches in the country to be of Episcopal-Lutheran denomination. But that doesn’t limit the diversity of people who attend the services there. Terry Williamson, pastor at Christ United, said most people who attend his church don’t necessarily even know the difference between Episcopal and Lutheran. “We don’t emphasize either denomination, we just try to be a spiritual home for people,” Williamson said. The church is involved with the community of Clinton County and hosts events at the church each month such as blood drives, concerts, and parties.

ST. JOHNS — Some use the winter season to be inside to stay warm, others snowboard and ski, while others find ways to practice their golf swing and continue working on their game to prepare for the spring season. Troy Looney, Superintendent at the Emerald, 2300 W. Maple Rapids Road in St. Johns, makes sure the course is well-maintained throughout the winter. Looney and his crew of workers do everything in their power to make sure that the winter season has no effect on the course for spring play, which it doesn’t.

ST. JOHNS — John Heystek, one of the owners at Uncle John’s Cider Mill, explains how the Uncle John’s Hard Cider has brought their cider mill success all year round, not just in the summer. The cider mill has been around for over 35 years and is continuing to grow. The summer is when most of the families and apple-lovers visit the cider mill and enjoy their time, but not for long. The hard cider they make is expanding across the state of Michigan, as well as across the country, which is a huge step for the cider mill.

DEWITT — After speaking with employees from Sweetie-Licious Bakery, Dewitt Computer Center, and at Bridge Street Hair Salon in DeWitt, it was clear how crucial social media is in their success in the town. Each employee said that after each post they make, more customers come in store or go online to get their product or service. This video shows how much of an impact making a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Foursquare has on the companies in Clinton County. This is a good example for companies who don’t have a social media page to make one and post frequently on it to get their potential customer’s attention and business.
