Video: ‘Why didn’t you stay in Mexico?’ blows up school meeting

A school meeting in Saline, Michigan, on diversity and inclusion blew up Feb. 3 when a man challenged a father, “Why didn’t you stay in Mexico?”

The conversation had meeting had been called, according to MLive, to heal the community after students circulated racist messages on Snapchat.

The man at the meeting challenged Adrian Iraola, who said his son had been crying at night for verbal abuse, including being called taco, enchilada and nacho.

After others at the meeting protested, Iraola answered the man’s question. The video shows him tell the man, “because this is the greatest country in the world.”
