Pew: White evangelical Protestants strong for Trump

The Pew Research Center found that President Donald Trump’s approval remained strong and steady among White evangelical Protestants in January.

White mainline Protestants and White Catholics were less approving, but still higher than Americans who identify as atheist, agnostic or nothing in particular.

They, and most Black Protestants and nonwhite Catholics, disapproved of Trump’s performance.

White evangelical Protestants will be a key group to watch in the 2020 election and the Michigan State University Bias Busters team plans to create such a guide this fall.
