Tensions in Iraq stop Chaldean outreach

Crain’s Detroit Business reports that the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce has tabled an outreach in northern Iraq intended to help the country recover from ISIS.

Martin Manna, president of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce and Chaldean Community Foundation in the Detroit area, told Crain’s they had been working to set up a satellite in northern Iraq to draw investment from the Detroit area to rebuilding in northern Iraq. He said, “Our goal is to establish a presence in Nineveh, Iraq, to serve our community and help put them on a path to stability following the trauma they endured from ISIS.”

Crain’s reported, “‘The proposal was set to go before the boards of the two organizations over the next two weeks but is on hold, given the escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iraq and Iran.”
