Democrats dominate Ingham County Board of Commissioners. Why?

Eleven out of 14 members on the Ingham County Board of Commissioners belong to the Democratic Party. And Democrats control all countywide elected offices as well, Democrat Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum of Onondaga said. “There are six countywide elected officials for Ingham County and they are all Democrats. Then there are the 14 commissioners that represent portions of the county,” only three of which are Republicans. That’s no surprise, given the county’s demographics.

Open-carry proponents asked to leave Michigan GOP Convention

LANSING—Controversy brewed the weekend of Feb. 22-24, at the Michigan Republican Convention when a group called Campaign for Liberty was asked to leave the Lansing Center because they were openly carrying weapons. “I’m very surprised that there was absolutely no defense from the Republican Party when the security guard was telling us we had to remove our side arms,” said Tony Demott, director of Michigan’s Campaign for Liberty. “You would think that (the Republican Party) would be supportive of the second Amendment,” DeMott said. “ You would think they would be supportive of their members.

Re-cap of Republican Convention

LANSING—The Michigan Republican Convention was held the weekend of Feb. 22-24 at the Lansing Center. Over 2,000 republicans from all over the state were in attendance with a large number of youth present. Gov. Rick Snyder spoke about revamping Michigan and the importance of the youth within the party. Also, a small group of protesters braved cold temperatures to advocate for gun control.
