Outgoing police chief Larry Jerue was honored at a city council meeting on Jan. 22, 2013, for his service in DeWitt. “The support that I’ve received and the friendships and family atmosphere here is unrivaled,” Jerue said at the city council meeting. Jerue, who had served as the DeWitt Police Chief since Jan. 14, 2004, promised those present that he wouldn’t cry after “having a long chat with his tear ducts” earlier.
