Virus stereotypes denounced at WHO

CNBC reports WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has called on global leaders to not politicize the coronavirus outbreak amid reports that people of Asian descent are facing discrimination around the world.

There are widespread reports of ride-share drivers refusing to transport Asian people, Chinese restaurants losing business and Chinese students being turned down for field trips.

At the Munich Security Conference, Ghebreyesus said, “We must stop stigma and hate. It’s easy to blame, it’s easy to politicize, it’s harder to tackle a problem together and find solutions together.”
