In the midst of Black History Month, the first news channel focused on African-American news network, Black news Channel (BNC), launched Monday.
“Black News Channel’s purpose is to be a news organization that gives voice to the varied experiences, issues, points-of-view and priorities that matter to African Americans,” says the channel’s website.
The site says BNC will operate as a 24/7 breaking news channel similar to CNN or MSNBC.
The network will feature an entirely Black news crew and staff, and feature programming designed for African-Americans. BNC’s website also says it will partner with Historically Black Colleges and Universities to “train the next generation of aspiring journalists.”
BNC is available for Spectrum and X-finity X-1 customers, with a Roku and Sling version coming later.
Learn more about Black perspectives, HBCUs and other issues in “100 Questions and Answers About African Americans” is available from Amazon or the Front Edge Publishing bookstore.
