Game of Thrones and Buddhism: Surprising connections

When the Michigan State University J-School creates Bias Busters guides, we try to be on top of the news, answering questions people have at the time.

When college campuses erupted in protests about the treatment of African Americans, we were already at work on 100 Questions and Answers About African Americans.

When immigration became a big issue in the United States, we answered people’s basic questions about  it in 100 Questions and Answers About Immigrants to the U.S.

And when the veterans’ population peaked, we answered questions about myths and stereotypes in a civilians’ guided called 100 Questions and Answers About Veterans.  But we did not see this coming:

Last night, 10 students stayed late after class for a pizza and editing session on on of our next guides, about Buddhism in the United States. As they came into class, some wanted to talk about the eighth and last season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which began Sunday.

An article on Tricycle.org draws some connections between Game of Thrones and Buddhism.
