Poll workers, who put in more than 12 hours on Election Day, work to try to restore voters’ trust in the process, which has been battered by innuendo and insinuation since last year’s election. They set up and operate new equipment and must resolve complicated issues in real time.
East Lansing got a peek at plans for a 10-story student housing complex with a swimming pool 124 feet above Grand River and Bogue at the planning commission’s Oct. 25 meeting. It would include 12,220 square feet of retail space and 347 market-rate apartments.

There are multiple ways to find, complete and submit voter registration forms. In East Lansing, a big income tax issue is on the ballot. Ingham County and Mason schools have tax issues, too.
MIP first offenders will save both $400 and a spot on their permanent record beginning Jan. 1. A state law signed in 2016 cleared the way for more lenient penalties for people convicted of being minors in possession of alcohol.
