Authorities release new updates in fatal school shooting in Oxford

A press conference was held yesterday evening to provide updates on the Oxford High School shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred before 1 p.m. Students were evacuated and nearby schools in the district went into lockdown. According to the Oakland County Sherriff, about 300 police officers responded to the scene. 11 people were shot and three people were killed.

The Sherriff’s office confirmed the conditions of the people who were wounded. Four people are expected to survive, three are in critical condition, one is in serious condition, and one teacher was discharged.

The suspect, in this case, has been described as a 15-year-old boy who entered the school with a 9mm pistol, which was purchased four days before the shooting. He was taken into custody without resistance.

The teen is expected to be charged with both homicides and attempted homicide. He is currently in the Oakland County juvenile center under suicide watch.
