EAST LANSING – Inspired by films beloved by many, ‘Anastasia’ is playing at the Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall, January 15-20, 2019 as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union, Broadway at Wharton Center Series.

This adaption stems from the 1997 Disney animation version of Anastasia.

The story follows a young girl, Anya, on the journey of finding out who she really is.

The story takes place in 1916 in St. Petersburg, Russia. A time where the Tsar Empire ruled and “Anya” being the daughter of the empire.  On one fateful night, her entire family is executed by Russian communists soldiers, leaving Anya to be the only surviving member left.

Only, there’s just one problem. She doesn’t remember who she is.

While carrying on with her life years later she runs into two men by the name of Dimitri and Vladimir who promise to return back to Paris to be reunited with her grandmother.

But, just what will taking this leap of faith do for Anya? Or “Anastasia”?

Lila Coogan and Stephen Brower who play Anastasia and Dimitri in the production give  the inside scoop on what to expect from the Broadway adaption playing at the Wharton Center from January 15-20, 2019.

You can catch it January 18 at 8 p.m., January 19 at 2 p.m., and January 20 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
