EAST LANSING- The Wharton Center at Michigan State University is putting together an adaption of beloved ‘90s rom-com movies such as Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and You’ve Got Mail just to name a few in a production entitled, One Good Day.

The play follows main character, Janey Hanks, played by actress Jessica Fontana who has been featured in multiple Broadway productions such as Roger & Hammerstein’s, Cinderella, and Once Upon a Mattress.

Fontana’s character is a popular NYC therapist who takes 24 hours to test the theory of whether or not your whole life can change in a day – as they do in the movies.

“I’m hoping that the audience comes in understanding that they’re seeing a work in progress and that they’re getting an opportunity to see a show in its infancy kind of figuring out what it’s going to be,” said Fontana. “I hope they really enjoy the characters and I hope they get invested in the story, that they want to follow these characters and see what happens to them.”

Directed by Kate Wetherhead, the show is a feel-good show that embraces the idea of hope and whether or not we ask or expect too much out of life and love.

“It’s about hope, and I’m quoting one of the writers when I say this, and how hope in and of itself has value, but the formula of it feels like a classic romantic comedy, but within that the theme is about hope,” said Wetherhead.

Showtimes are Saturday, September 22nd at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 23rd at 2 p.m.
