“You want honesty? Lansing Township kind of sucks. I would like to see less heroin on the streets. The gentrification is good, it’s working, it’s bringing some things up, but it’s taken out a lot of the lower income areas. They are doing lots of homeless roundups and pushing them out on the streets, like away from this area of the streets. Which, you know, I mean, pros and cons; you get less homeless, but at the same time, you still have people panhandling, they just don’t stay here – they just move into Lansing. So, I mean, for the efforts, I guess, good try but it’s not really working. I think they could, sort of, do better at bringing in social programs to help the lower class build themselves up, opposed to just kick them out. Whereas right now I feel like they’re trying to kick them out.”

“I have lived here for thirty years and I love it here. The taxes are lower than Lansing – my neighbor lives in Lansing and he pays more taxes than I do. But they keep raising the taxes. We have to pay for the schools, and my kids are grown up and I’ve got grand kids, and stuff. I don’t know why we have to pay for the schools when our kids don’t go to the schools.”

“Yeah the rivalry between Michigan and Michigan State, it’s really rampant out here. When they {U of M} come up, it’s gonna be a great party environment that’s for sure. Like I said it’s a great community, with a lot of stories about how great Michigan State is and how it’s better than Michigan. But you know, I’ve had a lot of experiences around in the neighborhood; I’m fairly new to the neighborhood myself, but I’ve been welcomed here with open arms. People accept me into the community, with no issues. Good positives all around.”

"It got quieter around here since GM left over down the street. It used to be a little bit busier. They shut it down, and I don’t know why they did. It seems like they’ve been cutting down a lot of GM plants recently so it makes sense. There were so many people driving up and down this road at night. Businesses around here have changed because of them shutting down that plant.”

"You can get from one side to the other no matter what in 20 minutes, so if you find something you love to do, then it’s not far away.”

“I think when they made that little park, to help with the drainage going over to the golf course. It is a nice walking park and people enjoy it.”
