Cruz suspends campaign; Sanders and Trump win Indiana
Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders had big days in Indiana today. Trump’s closest rival, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, suspended his campaign for the GOP nomination and Sanders appeared to have won an upset victory over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.
The Washington Post said few would have expected to see the Republican field narrowed to one viable candidate before the Democratic field was sorted out.
Sanders is a statistical longshot in terms of delegates, but an upset in Indiana would keep his campaign alive and mean that Clinton will be running against both at the same time.
Ohio Sen. John Kasich is still campaigning for the Republican nomination but has won only his home state.
