EAST LANSING, Mich (FOCAL POINT)- Ever since Abigail and Gabrielle Burbary were little, they knew they wanted to be entrepreneurs.
“When we were 16, we came up with the idea and our parents really supported us in it, so from there we’ve just grown it ever since.”
Their business, Bella Gemelli, meaning beauty of twins in Italian, is about designing their own clothing line
“It’s a boutique, and we’re moving from a boutique to our own designs. So it’s kind of just a brand of fashion and we want to start adding more lifestyle things in there.”
As of now, they are in the process of designing the clothes through the Detroit based manufacturer Detroit Sewn.
“Right now, we get the word out mainly from Facebook ads are really helpful and since our boutique right now is just online we do a lot of Google ads and mostly I would say Instagram and word of mouth is like the number one thing that is helpful for our business.”
Not only business owners, but the twins have gained a media following on YouTube with 1,247 followers and Instagram with 3,257 followers.
“We wanted people to know the people behind Bella Gemelli our company as well. So we kind of wanted to be make our own personally brand while growing another brand so that’s why we started YouTube.”
But, Bella Gemelli isn’t just about growing their brand, they want to help others too.
“At the end of the year, every year, what we do we just started doing this, is give a percentage of our proceeds to the Grahams foundation which supports families of multiples and families of premature babies.”
Abby and Gabby plan on continuing their growing business and their fan base in the future.
“I don’t think there will ever be a time where we don’t work together, because after we graduate we still want to own our company together and grow it from there.”
