Let’s Go to Petco

Many Michigan State students and other Lansing residents are excited to hear about, and see, the Petco store reopened in the Frandor Shopping Center here in Lansing.

Being one of over 1,200 stores in the country, this store offers services such as vaccinations, full-service grooming, dog training, and self-service dog wash.

Many people are excited because they can go to one place and be able to get all of their pets needs and also get them groomed at the same time. Being that there was no store, or animal clinic, around that would allow people to do both, this store is well appreciated amongst the people of Lansing.

One local resident, Tina Roberts, is the owner of a furry labradoodle thinks that opening up the Petco was one of the best things that could have happened to Lansing.

“Having a dog as big and furry as Bella, you have to be able to make sure you have everything you need in order to keep your dog healthy, well groomed, and entertained,” said Roberts.

“While going to an animal clinic or even a shelter is good for things like shots and checkups, it is an even better thing to get your pet groomed and trained while you go shopping for food, toys, and other pet needs,” said Roberts.

Anthony Thomas, also a Lansing resident, also said that he was excited for the opening of the store.

“Not only will this store be helpful to the many students who live close to campus with pets, it will also be a good thing for students and other residents by offering jobs for people especially in this time where it is hard for most people to even get a job,” said Thomas.

“I feel like seven out of 10 households in Lansing have pets and this Petco makes it much easier to do two things at once pertaining your pets. I will frequent the store often,” said Thomas.

Store hours are Monday- Saturday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

While the Petco is the perfect stop and shop for you and your pet, they also have several events each month for you and your pet. The last event for the month will be this Saturday. This event is Free Puppy Playtime from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This event is for local residents to bring their puppies, big and small, out to play with other animals. During this event you can also have your dog’s picture taken with Santa for $8.95. All proceeds are going to go to a local animal shelter.
