EAST LANSING, Mich.- MI First Election staff members Alex Scharg and Aaron Jordan and faculty member Troy Hale were interviewed by Michigan radio, to be broadcasted in Ann Arbor, Detroit and Flint.
MI First Election is Michigan State University’s College of Journalism real time election coverage for first-time voters, by first-time voters. This project is giving journalism students real time journalism experience.
Journalism student Alex Scharg expressed how valuable of an experience this is to him and to other journalism students.
“Once again Michigan State University offers hands on experience you can’t get anywhere else,” Scharg said. “I don’t believe there’s been a time in the School of Journalism history where there’s been this much participation and excitement.”
Similarly, Aaron Jordan was excited about the turnout of the project.
“It’s great to see that people are taking an interest in what we’re doing here and that all of this hard work truly is being seen,” Jordan said.
MI First Election is doing five live cut-ins for WKARTV and one on WKAR Radio, streaming online and will be posting news stories through the day.
