BATH, Mich.- A Bath resident will be memorializing Tom Schneider, the former Bath supervisor that passed away last month.
Mike Goodwin will be using completely recycled materials to make a presentation box for the family of Schneider. The box will hold the gavel that Schneider used as supervisor, according to Troy Feltman, Bath’s superintendent.
Recycling and “going green” was a cause that was close to Schneider’s heart, according to Paula Clark, the new Bath supervisor.
“He would have liked this very much, to see something being made from recyclables,” Clark said. “It was always how he operated, and it was a cause he really cared about.”
Feltman’s superintendent report stated that he hoped that the gavel in the presentation box can be brought to the Board of Trustees within the next few weeks and a ceremony can be held for Schneider’s family. The family will then be able to keep the gavel box as a memory of everything Schneider did for the township.
“It should be really special,” Feltman said. “And the fact that it’s recycled, Tom would have loved that.”
