On Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, football fans across the country will dawn their sports apparel and be prepared to cheer on the Pittsburg Steelers and the Green Bay Packers as they battle one another for the title in this year’s Super Bowl. For citizens of Holt, Michigan, there’s one local sports bar and grill where they can be sure that the red carpet will be rolled out for them to enjoy the game and all it has to offer.
Buddies Grill located at 2040 Aurelius Road, is the third and newest location of its kind. The other two locations are in East Lansing and Okemos. Opened in August 2007, Buddies of Holt has been constructed to fit the needs of its customers for events such as the Super Bowl. Some of those necessities include a large game room, a banquet room that fits up to 100 people and of course plenty of big screen TVs.
Mike Bartkowiak and his wife Carol Mick along with their friends Bill and Linda Burch, are frequent customers at Buddies and will be looking forward to enjoying this year’s Super Bowl there as well.
“It’s close to my home, and they have great service, great food, and it’s a great bar to come to,” stated Mike.
“We come down here and they have specials all the time,” explained Carol. “Our drinks are on the table before we even sit down.”
Brandon Henderson who is one of the managers at Buddies spoke of some the specials that will be offered to customers this year during the Super Bowl. “We offer all-day Happy Hour which brings in a lot of people on Sundays,” Henderson said. “We also have a local guy who will bring in an all-you-can-eat buffet that the customers can enjoy.” Henderson went on to explain that their drink prices are guaranteed to top any other bar’s specials.
In addition to stating why they loved going to the bars, the regulars couldn’t help but express the team they would be rooting for in this year’s Super Bowl.
“I want the Packers to win,” explained Carol. “I’m actually a Packers and Steelers fan, but I really want the Packers to win.” Likewise, her husband Mike agreed that he too will be cheering on the Packers.
In addition to the festivities of the Super Bowl, Buddies offers weekly live entertainment, pool and dart leagues, and DJ Trivia. Their Happy Hours are as follows:
- Sunday noon to close
- Monday – Thursday 2 – 7p.m. and 10p.m to close
- Friday 2p.m – 7p.m.
