Jazmin Bailey is a broadcast journalism senior at Michigan State University.  When she graduates in May 2011, she will also have a specialization in Spanish which she has been studying since her freshman year of high school at Saint Joseph Academy in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jazmin’s journalism dreams began at the age of five after watching David Bloom and Soledad O’Brien on NBC’s Weekend Today from her kitchen table.  From then on, Jazmin could be found practicing her “journalist voice”, or shall we say mimicking the sounds of Cleveland reporters, while reading her social studies and science books around the house. Jazmin’s dreams became reality in high school when she joined Announcement Crew at Saint Joseph Academy and shadowed at both WKYC Channel 3 News and WEWS NewsChannel 5 during her junior year. Shadowing at WEWS allowed her to finally meet the anchor she had been watching all of her life, Danita Harris!

Since 2007, Jazmin has had countless opportunities in journalism and she credits Michigan State University and her determination for all them! Jazmin has worked with SpartanTV Network as an anchor as well as a Blog Reporter during the 2008 Presidential Election Coverage. During the summer of 2009, she interned at MacDonald Broadcasting promoting POWER 96.5FM and producing promos for MIKE 101.7FM. This past summer, Jazmin interned with HOM-TV on the reporting track which led to her becoming the Sideline Reporter for the Capital City Stealth, Lansing, MI’s very own minor league football team! Currently, Jazmin is a special assignment intern with HOM-TV acting as host for the monthly show, Beyond The Badge.

When Jazmin isn’t making news she enjoys working as a Spartan Aide for the MSU Football Team and hanging with her Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority sisters.

Don’t forget to follow her on Twitter!
