The MSU Board of Trustees gave permission to plan the demolition of Cherry Lane and Faculty Bricks apartments earlier this month. The apartments have sat on the west edge of campus for over 60 years.
Most residents understand the apartments are old and need to come down, and announcing demolition now gives them ample time to make future living arrangements.
There is some controversy though. Some community members worry a piece of history will be lost when these apartments are gone. Focal Point’s Veronica Jackson has more on what residents think and how the university plans to preserve parts of these historical buildings.
