Dmitri Barvinok is in the class of 2013 at Michigan State University, studying journalism. He is specializing in environmental reporting.

Seth Beifel is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University studying journalism and international relations. He is from Philadelphia and has never written a book before, so this is going to be an interesting experience to say the least.

Hayley Beitman is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University studying journalism with a specialization in design and photography. She is a contributing writer and photographer at The Odyssey at Michigan State.

Lynn Bentley is in the class of 2013 at Michigan State University studying journalism.

Colby Berthume is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University, studying journalism. He is specializing in public relations. He is currently working at a non-profit organization that offers job training for people with disabilities.

J.T. Bohland is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University studying journalism with a specialization in broadcasting. He has written for The Clarkston News and is an entertainment writer at Revue Magazine in Lansing.

Tony Briscoe is in the class 2012 at Michigan State University majoring in journalism with a specialization in public affairs reporting. He has written for The Detroit News, Automotive News, and B.L.A.C. Detroit Magazine, among others.

Tommy Franz is a political science and sports journalism student in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University. After graduation, he hopes to attend law school to study sports and entertainment law.

Rachel Jackson is in the class of 2013 at Michigan State University studying journalism. She hopes to work as either a politics and government reporter in Washington, D.C., or to become a war correspondent.

Alethia Kasben is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University studying journalism and public relations. She hopes to attend law school and pursue a career in politics.

Devyne Lloyd is in the class of 2013 at Michigan State University studying journalism. She aspires to be a food critic.

Allen Martin is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University studying journalism with a concentration in sports broadcasting. He has interned at WLNS TV News, the Big Ten Network, and as a news/sports reporter at HOMTV in Haslett, Mich.

Dustin Petty is in he class of 2012 at Michigan State University studying journalism. He hopes to one day operate a non-profit for LGBTQ youth.

Nicholas Roddy is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University, studying journalism and international relations. He works as a student director for the Big Ten Network and wants to work in sports production.

Samantha Schmitt is in the class of 2012 at Michigan State University, studying journalism and public relations. She hopes to work in sports.

Leslie Tilson is in the class of 2013 at Michigan State University studying journalism and political science. After graduation, she hopes to attend law school.

Lynne Werner is in the class of 2013 at Michigan State University studying journalism. She hopes to one day work for a music magazine.


John Hile is publisher of David Crumm Media, LLC. He is co-founder and a board member at Hilgraeve, Inc., a leader in advanced communications software and services.

Joe Grimm is a visiting editor in residence at the MSU School of Journalism. He spent 26 years at the Detroit Free Press. He has worked on about 10 books.
