Transgender activists and allies gathered at the state Capitol on March 31, also known as the International Transgender Day of Visibility. Michigan activist Rachel Crandall-Crocker created the day in 2009 and spoke in Lanising.
A new kind of Chipotle restaurant is coming to Delta Township. A ‘Chipotlanes’ restaurant will be coming to the Delta Shopping center, and the drive-through won’t feature an order board or pay window. Drive-through orders will require customers to order and pay through the Chipotle app.
Delta Township’s new fire chief reflects on his first two months in on the job. He thanks his partner, assistant fire chief Michael Roman for their close partnership and cooperation, and he thanks the people of Delta Township for being a welcoming community.
Michigan lawmakers are drafting bills that could forgive snow days during Lansing’s state of emergency. Many Michigan schools have already used nine days and some have gone over the limit and will have to make up class time.
“Hey hey, ho ho, gender bias has got to go!” chanted a crowd of more than 100 protestors at the January 20 Lansing Women’s March. The protestors met at the MSU Union on January 20 and braved single-digit temperatures. Flanked by Michigan State University Police, the protestors marched from the Union to the Hannah Administration Building. Demonstrators were marching in support of many causes, among them women’s reproductive rights, workplace equality and equal pay, advocacy for victims of sexual assault and LGBTQ+ rights. They were also marching to protest President Donald Trump’s policies on immigration and the proposed border wall.
