East Lansing family spreads positivity with Positive A Tree

On the corner of Cowley Avenue and Harvard Road, you’ll see some new signs in the neighborhood. Sara Olsztyn, with the help of her husband, son, and next-door neighbor left a message for anyone that walks by. With the permission of East Lansing and the support from neighbors, they tied signs with positive messages written on them to spread hope and positivity to the community. Jaci Sayen, Sara’s friend, heard about the messages on Instagram. She said that being in a pandemic for over eight months has made glimmers of hope hard to find every now and again, but these signs portray a timely message that could be carried on for a lifetime.

Still Hard For Students To Get Jobs In Pandemic

Under normal circumstances, getting a job is challenging for college students. Between updating resumes and cover letters, applying for jobs and trying to stand out from other applicants, things can be overwhelming. Work opportunities became even scarcer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over six months after the start of the pandemic, there’s challenges for students still looking for work experience. MSU’S Career Services Network said that it will add more virtual events this spring.

Delta Township finishes river trail, canoe launch projects

Delta Township opened its Old River Trail and Delta Mills Canoe/Kayak launch to the public on Oct. 26. “It will no longer be necessary for paddle enthusiasts to travel a great distance in order to enjoy a paddle down the river,” said Brian Reed, the manager of Delta Township. The Old River Trail Pathway is about half a mile long and connects Delta Mills Canoe/Kayak Launch and Park to Hunters Orchard Park and the pathway and trails in that Park. It also connects to a pathway on Webster Road and Old River Trail Road connecting to their east/west pathway.
