High Caliber Karting and Entertainment making strides to complete construction by opening day.

OKEMOS – Indoor go-karts will be making its way to Meridian Mall by the end of August.

A new company called, High Caliber Karting and Entertainment will be making its grand entrance by taking over the former Younkers storefront to showcase a variety of attractions.

The 79,000 sq. ft. fun center will feature, two karting tracks, axe throwing, racing simulators, pocket soccer, VIP rooms, a bar and an arcade.

“We want this to be a place where people come to have fun,” said general manager, Zach Bingham.

Speed is an essential part of electric go-karts and will be able to reach over 50 mph.

Bingham states that, while fun is a top priority, safety is a necessity. The bar will be enforcing a two-drink limit for patrons who wish to access the race tracks and axe throwing.

“We want this to be a safe environment for everyone,” said Bingham.

He said he believes that the entertainment center will be a hallmark hang-out spot for students and young adults to enjoy a great time after a long day.

“I think it will be a lot of fun and many people will enjoy it,” said mall shopper, Serena Lischalk.

Launch Trampoline Park are also anticipating the opening of the entertainment center.

“We are excited to see it arrive,” said Launch manager, Kamila Stephens. “The parents will need a place to drop their younger kids off and that is where we come in.”

Stephens believes that the mall is transitioning into a mall of entertainment where Launch will be geared towards the younger crowd and High Caliber Karting and Entertainment will be geared towards the adult crowd.

The fun center will accommodate a range of guests but there will be restrictions. Go-karts will be available for ages 8 and up with a required height of 54 inches and axe throwing will be available for ages 12 and up.

Hours are projected to be Monday -Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The entertainment center is set to open Aug. 31.
