On April 10, Bath Township Parks and Recreation will be hosting its annual Easter Bunny Event for children ages 1-10. The event will consist of a community Easter egg hunt, games, prizes, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Becky Goodwin, director of Bath Township’s Parks and Recreation, has helped direct the event since 2010.

“It’s a fun family thing to do. It’s not a long drawn-out commitment for time and it gets kids back home and ready for bed,” said Goodwin. “It also brings adults together. They’re bringing their kids to have fun, but you always see adults hanging around and talking to each other while the kids are doing their thing.”

Those who register have a chance to win an Easter basket, candy, and other prizes including an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Lansing-Okemos. The first 60 to register will also receive an additional giveaway.

Participants must register in order to obtain the tickets that’ll enter them into the drawings.

“We have games like Guess the Bunny Tail or Guess the Jelly Beans,” said Goodwin. “People also have the opportunity to win an Easter basket that’s been put together from the Township’s funds as well as the Meijer of Bath Township.”

This year’s event will be held at Bath Township’s Soccer Field if the weather permits it. If the field is wet, muddy or snow-covered, the event will be moved indoors to Bath Middle School’s gymnasium.

“We divide the gym into quadrants by age. It’s very controlled to where nobody should be getting run over,” said Goodwin. “We try to keep the little people as safe as possible.”
