On Nov. 4, the Hot Wheels and Cool Cars fundraiser will be put on by the Mason Public Schools Foundation at 200 Museum Drive in Lansing. The 6-8 p.m. event offers admission to three museums for $10 per person or $30 for a family of up to six. Food will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to the foundation.

Hot Wheels and Cool Cars was first held in 2015.

The Mason Public School Foundation holds two other fundraising events. The Red Carpet Gala Dinner and Auction raised $48,000 last year for the foundation. The Mason State Bank 5k Run/Walk also brought notice and revenue to the MPSF.

Mason Public School Superintendent Ronald Drzewicki said the $71,000 raised in the 2015-2016 school year was one of the highest on record. .

An independent non-profit, the foundation supports expanded learning opportunities.

Foundation Treasurer Scott Harris said, “Thanks to the support of so many Mason residents and area businesses, the foundation has been able to award more than $420,000 over the past several years to teachers, administrators and others in the Mason Public School system.”

Lisa O’Conner, public relations committee chair of the MPSF, said the foundation will help supply technology and learning enrichment trips that the district would not regularly be able to afford.

“The donors and sponsors have been very generous and supportive,” said O’Conner. “We are lucky to have them in Mason and so engaged with our schools.”

Donations can be sent to Mason Public Schools Foundation at P.O. Box 311, Mason, MI 48854.
