The district includes East Lansing, Meridian Township, Williamstown Township and Locke Township across northern Ingham County.
Nastas, of Haslett, is a retired Michigan State University marketing professor. His campaign has focused on plans to cut spending, reform car insurance policies, shift state fuel taxes to road repairs, and combat climate change by expanding alternative energy and natural gas use for power plants.
A former member of the East Lansing City Council, the 45-year-old Singh graduated from MSU in 1994.
His first Michigan House race was in 2012, when he beat Republican Susan McGillicuddy by nearly 30 percentage points. Singh followed with a 35-point margin in 2014 over Republican Frank Lambert.
