The Michigan Department of Human Services recently announced that they will be regulating the Food Assistance Program, making it almost completely inaccessible for many students.
Under the new guidelines, college students are not eligible for food assistance except in “limited circumstances”.
The new guideline will now comply with federal guidelines, and is meant to stop college students who aren’t in need from abusing the system.
However, some students can not afford to buy food on their own.
